Stratford’s Market Square sits exactly where the early settlers of Perth County wanted it – at the crossroads of the major roads within the Huron Tract. The Square is located directly behind City Hall in the centre of town. A complete restoration is took place in early 2017.

Originally built in 1903, at the height of Stratford’s booming furniture industry, the Globe Wernike Company, a manufacturer of office furniture was a perfect fit for Stratford. The company produced “elastic bookcases”, a cutting edge modular furniture design ahead of its time, and had, at one point, captured seventy-five per cent of the Canadian market for bookcases. This warehouse will become the venue for various eclectic musical experiences throughout our season.
Stratford takes great pride in its park system along the Avon River and into the countryside surrounding the city. One popular area is the T.J. Dolan Natural Area, known familiarly as the T.J. Dolan Trail, a particularly scenic and naturally bountiful pathway for walkers at the south-west end of the city. The gathering point for each Bach Walk will be the entrance to the Trail, off John Street South, not far from the Stratford Hospital.

An amalgamated congregation of churches active in meeting Stratford’s spiritual and social needs since the 1840s meets in this mid-century modern building, constructed in the early 1960s after their church home was destroyed by fire. Extensive renovations were completed in 2015-2016. A fully accessible, air-conditioned building with a large parking lot and relaxing grounds, the renovations included improved acoustics, comfortable seating, plentiful washrooms, and an updated Walcker pipe organ specially built for this space.
