• Marketing and Fund Development Coordinator

    The Marketing and Fund Development Coordinator participates in the planning and is jointly responsible with the General Manager for the development, implementation and coordination of all fundraising, marketing and communications activities for Stratford Summer Music based on a formalized fund development program and an integrated communications and marketing plan. The position promotes Stratford Summer Music on a local and regional basis to ensure a broad base of funding resources. Reporting to the General Manager, and working with the Artistic Director, who develops the programming and special events of each season, the Marketing and Fund Development Manager will be responsible for the following:

    Marketing
    Working with the General Manager, develop a fully realized marketing vision for the season including individualized show sales strategies, timelines, collateral creation and work backs for deadlines.
    Working with the General Manager, set sales targets for each venue and show.
    Research, create and coordinate the content of SSM’s website and social media, ensuring content is current and consistent with the integrated communications strategy.
    Write and issue media releases and public service announcements; coordinate media enquiries; and serve as spokesperson as required.
    Based on the Marketing & Communication Plan, responsible for the creation of print and multimedia materials used for promotion of SSM.
    Develop and write all brand marketing and educational collateral. Liaise with the graphic design team and advertising vendors in designing, communicating and proof reading ads in print, broadcast media, and on-line.
    Communicate with Social Media Coordinator and partnering organizations such as Springworks~Puppetworks!, Downtown BIA, Stratford Perth Museum, Revival House, Destination Stratford and RTO4 on implementing shared marketing strategies that will be of benefit to SSM.
    Assess and report on a continuous basis the effectiveness of marketing decisions and suggest strategies to advance ticket sales.

    Fund Development
    Take a proactive leadership role in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of individual and corporate donors. Liaise with the General Manager on existing and new fundraising efforts and seasonal “ask” campaigns.
    Continuously explore alternative funding sources and new models which will attract additional support.
    Liaise with prospective, current and past festival donors; oversee and facilitate patron and sponsor recognition.
    Produce appropriate stewardship materials for selected contributors; including liaising with the graphic design team to produce fundraising and fund development materials.
    Report progress to the General Manager for inclusion in monthly Board reports.
    Assist with fundraising events as required.

    Hours and Pay
    21 hours per week beginning in March 2023 and extending to October 2023 with the possibility of extension. $22 to $28 per hour to be negotiated.

  • Artists Services Coordinator and Education Program Coordinator

    The Artist Services Coordinator works alongside the Artistic Director as his immediate assistant in the
    care and hospitality of visiting artists. The position includes welcoming artists, arranging their
    accommodations and ensuring hospitality needs are met, liaising with the production department to
    arrange rehearsal, necessary materials and back stage organization. The position also liaises with the
    General Manager and Bookkeeping in the organization of contracting and payment. With the Marketing
    Coordinator the Artist Services Coordinator gathers and organizes marketing and publicity materials
    from artists and agents.

    This job requires a good knowledge of Stratford accommodations and restaurants, excellent
    communications and time management skills, the ability to manage multiple schedules and time. As
    Education Program Coordinator the applicant will communicate with participants and faculty of
    education programs to ensure all necessary components are at the ready and delivered. The details may
    include giving direction to participants, ensuring classrooms are open, communicating faculty needs to
    participants, scheduling individual study sessions with visiting artists. Artists’ services represents 75% of
    this position, education programming coordinator 25%.

    Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle required for this position.

    $16.00 to $17.00 per hour, 40 hours per week, 8 weeks, starting June 19th, 2023 Full time with part
    time work in the two weeks before

  • Marketing Assistant and Box Office Coordinator

    The Box Office Coordinator is responsible for the selling of event tickets to patrons over the telephone,
    on the website and at festival events. Customer service tasks including answering patron questions
    regarding performances, details about the venue and performing artists. The incumbent may be
    required to provide information on other events in the area and act as tourist information officer on
    occasion. The Box Office Coordinator handle merchandise sales at event and the reconciliation of the
    income from these sales.

    As Marketing Assistant, the incumbent provides social media content and updating, website updating,
    and onsite assistance at in person promotional and concert events. Candidate must have excellent
    communication skills and a good knowledge of Stratford and area. Box office tasks represent 80% of this
    position, marketing 20%.

    $16.00 to $19.00 per hour, 40 hours per week from June 19th to July 13th, 2023 full time, part time
    work beginning in early June.

  • Production Co-ordinator

    This candidate will lead a team of three to five technicians responsible for carrying out the presentation
    of 45 to 55 music events at 6 venues throughout the four week music festival, including sound
    equipment and lighting set up, staging, liaising with artists and other festival support staff.
    The incumbent will work with the General Manager to organize all necessary trainings for staff and
    ensure a safe and healthy working environment. The Production Coordinator is responsible for gathering
    technical information, interpreting riders and liaising with artists and artists’ representatives to ensure
    that their technical and ensuring musical needs are met. The incumbent will create schedules for the
    technical crew in collaboration with the General Manager and Artists Services Coordinator and Artistic
    Director. They will ensure adequate staffing for excellent realization of Stratford Summer Music’s live
    music events.
    During the festival the Production Coordinator acts in a senior crew position providing oversite and
    support to technical staff as well as overseeing set ups and take downs of all events as necessary.
    A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is necessary. Training in Working at Heights, First Aid,
    Boat Safety, Anti Violence and Harassment will all be provided and required in the first week of work
    unless valid certificates are provided.

    Strong practical experience in sound mixing, in depth knowledge of sound and lighting for the live
    performing arts, time management and organizational skills are required. The ability to lift up to 50
    pounds is required.

    $22 to $28 per hour, 40 hours per week averaged over the course of the contract beginning part time
    June 1st, Full Time as of June 19th, extending until August 15th, 2023.

  • Audio Technician

    This position will ensure the proper sound reproduction for a variety of musical acts in a multi-week
    music festival in several different venues both indoors and outdoors. The Audio technician will be
    responsible for load in of equipment, setting audio levels, assisting artists with instrument load in and
    sound checks. The technician will work mostly in a team environment, collaborating to ensure the safe
    and well- managed execution of live music events. Training will be provided in Working at Heights, First
    Aid, Boat Safety, Anti Violence and Harassment as well as sound mixing specific to the venue in the first
    weeks of work. A stipend can be provided for safety equipment (steel toe boots) if needed. The ability
    to lift up to 50 pounds is required. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred.

    $16.00 to $19 per hour, starting part time June 26th and Full Time July 4th and extending to August 14th, 2023.

    Position is in Stratford Ontario each Wednesday through Sunday from July 5th on.

  • Board Director, Stratford Summer Music

    Stratford Summer Music is a project of the Stratford Arts Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization.  Charitable Registration #RR001-87819-7417.

    The Board of Directors of Stratford Summer Music is currently inviting submissions from qualified individuals interested in serving as a Volunteer Member of the Board of Directors. We will have openings for four individuals who have expertise in one or more of the following areas:  Finance, Accounting, Legal, Fund Development and the Corporate Sector.

    The three year term of office, which is renewable, will commence as of the Annual General Meeting in March.

    Directors are expected to attend monthly Board meetings (10 per year) either in person in our Stratford office or by teleconference, and participate on one Board subcommittee (Fund Development, Marketing and Audience Development).  This is a volunteer position.

    The Mission for Stratford Summer Music is to stage an annual festival of diverse musical and educational experiences for both regional and wider audiences, to celebrate music in its many manifestations and to enhance the reputation of the Stratford region as a home for all the arts.
