SEPARATE FROM TIME

If you're a fan of the group The Band, you know that the last remaining member of the famous roots-rock group passed away recently. Originally from Windsor, Ontario, Garth Hudson was responsible for creating sounds that made their way into many people's minds over the last several decades. Here's a short video with multiple samples of his work from the group:

Hudson was a well-loved man and seen by many to be a mystic of sorts. One description I heard about him suggested that he was a man "separate from time". I like the idea and would only add that when we are deeply engaged with music, time usually fades away. One of music's greatest qualities, I think. Here's a great article from NPR about him:

And here's a great short film created by a fan about why Hudson was truly an original:

Rest well, Mr. Hudson. You've earned it!

We have two events to announce today that we hope will brighten your month of March! First up - Side by Side Winter Bach 3.0 - Magnificat. Third time's the charm on this one - the last two Winter Bach Series events having been so successful, we've upped the ante this time 'round. A side-by-side event putting professionals and young artists in training performing together the music of the beloved master composer. This performance will include the Violin Concerto in E Major performed by violinist Christopher Whitley, and the jubilant Magnificat with a full choir led by award-winning conductor Kathleen Allen, who currently serves as director of the Amadeus Choir. This will be a joyous event! Come join us on March 6th at The Avondale! Here's a link with more info:

Also happening in March is our 2nd annual St. Patrick's Day event happening at Jobsite Brewery on March 16. Our headliner this year is the incredible fiddler Joelle Crigger, who will have your toes tapping and hands clapping (if you're not drinking green beer...). Last year's event sold out quickly, so grab tickets for this one soon! Here's more info:

And lastly for today, we'll be putting a spotlight on our season sponsor (for this year and next!) - TD Bank Group!

Have a great weekend all!

Season Presenting Sponsor

We are thrilled to have TD join us as our lead season sponsor for our 25th and 26th seasons! Their support helps us bring the world’s best musicians to our community, and we appreciate it!! They have been a positive presence in Stratford (and around the world) for a long, long time, and they helped this writer out of a jam last year when one of their competitors stopped issuing US Bank Drafts unexpectedly. TD came to the rescue for me - thank you!! Here’s to a long and happy relationship!
