Immerse yourself in the mesmerizing fusion of art and sound with the NYX: electronic drone choir. Extending from Emergence, an interactive light and sound sculpture by UK artist duo This Is Loop that can be seen throughout Lights On Stratford in Market Square, this captivating performance blends electronic and choral harmonies to explore the power of collective voice. Don’t miss this unforgettable experience of light, reflection, and sound!
With visceral compositions by choir leader Sian O’Gorman, NYX tests the limits of organic and synthetic modulation to explore the entire spectrum of collective voice as an instrument. Shifting through portals of sounding bodies & electronics, NYX’s emotive music moves like a film score between otherworldly chorus, ambient dreamscapes, charged harmonics, guttural bass lines and folksong. NYX Live is co-produced by electronic producer and film composer, Seb Gainsborough (Vessel), featuring atmospheric drum sequences, warped field recordings and transcendental rhythms to send audiences into the clouds. Developed with support of Southbank Studio, Hawkwood College, The Francis W Reckitt Arts Trust and PRS Foundation, NYX Live premiered at Dark Mofo Festival (Tasmania) 2023 in Tasmania and at Queen Elizabeth Hall (London) in 2024.
