Thank you for your support in keeping music alive in Stratford!

And of course, don't forget about next week's performance! Winter Bach 3.0!

I don’t often get the chance to take over these e-blasts, but when I do, I realize I rarely share personal stories about my journey with music. So, I thought it’s time to change that!

Music and the arts have been a major part of my life, starting when I was just 12 years old, playing in the Canadian Cadet Program and continuing throughout my school years. My career has taken me through theatre, ballet, music, and back again, giving me the opportunity to work with artists from all genres and experience some truly magical moments.

When my son was born, my life transformed into a full-blown musical! Every moment turned into a song—from bath time to bedtime, even potty time! Music continues to shape our world in the most unexpected ways. Now that my son is a toddler, our home is often filled with the sounds of his favorite music (and his drum kit). Currently, he’s in the middle of a sea shanty phase! So, here are two links to his favorite shanty, the soundtrack of my life right now:

Have a great week and enjoy the music!

We are incredibly fortunate to have outstanding supporters here in Stratford, and today, we are thrilled to highlight a remarkable couple, Jean Anne McLeod and David Stones. Jeannie has been an integral part of Stratford Summer Music, dedicating her time, expertise, and passion to our organization. As Past Board Chair, Jeannie provided invaluable leadership, guiding the board with her vast experience and strategic insight. Her distinguished career includes serving as Chief Operating Officer at Stikeman Elliott LLP, one of Canada’s leading law firms, and holding senior roles in the Ontario Ministry of Finance, Transportation, and Realty Corporation. Jean also served as Chair of the Seneca College Board, bringing a deep understanding of governance and organizational development that was crucial in shaping the success of Stratford Summer Music over the years.

Beyond her leadership, Jeannie has demonstrated a tireless commitment to Stratford Summer Music, dedicating countless hours to ensuring its growth and long-term success. Her impact as a Board Member and Past Board Chair has left a lasting mark on the organization, and we are deeply grateful for her contributions.

Likewise, Jean Anne’s husband, David Stones, has also had a prominent career as a CEO, marketing executive and business leader. Locally, David has guided several Boards through strategic planning processes, has twice Chaired the Stratford Perth Museum Board, as well as served on the Stratford Chefs School Board, and currently chairs the School’s Advisory Group. David is also a celebrated Canadian Poet, with multiple awards and 500+ poems in print. His impactful poetry and acclaimed performance of his work, often with musical accompaniment, resonate deeply with audiences, further enriching Stratford’s cultural landscape. Of note, David recently received the honour of being appointed Stratford’s first-ever Poet Laureate and will serve in this distinguished role for a three-year term.

Together, Jean Anne and David have been among our most generous sponsors and loyal patrons. Their commitment to the arts is evident not only in their financial support but also in their presence at our events. Whether attending our Live at Revival performances or other gatherings, their enthusiasm for music and culture continues to inspire.

We are incredibly fortunate to count Jeannie and David among our supporters and look forward to celebrating many more moments with them in the seasons to come!
