The Story:

Don Pasquale, a wealthy, elderly bachelor, is annoyed with his nephew and heir, Ernesto.  Ernesto is in love with the sprightly young widow, Norina, and wishes to marry her.  Pasquale disapproves, and threatens to take a wife himself, sire an heir and disinherit Ernesto.  Enter Pasquale’s friend, Dr. Malatesta, who pretends to take Pasquale's side but is actually plotting on behalf of the young lovers.   Deceptions, disguises and misunderstandings ensue, but love triumphs in the end.
