Stratford Summer Music

Angela Hewitt

“...In her superbly serious performance, one that eschews all personal vanity, all preening mannerism and flamboyance but which, with strength in abundance, locates the still centre at the heart of the music.  What enviable poise and expressive beauty...what muffled and sustained opening octaves...what concentrated focus.” - From a review, Editor’s Choice, Gramophone magazine, March, 2015

Angela Hewitt returns to Stratford on August 11 & 12 to present Books 1 and 2 of the challenging and inspiring keyboard work, The Well-Tempered Clavier.  Through two performances, Ms. Hewitt will play the complete 48 Preludes and Fugues devised by Johann Sebastian Bach as his masterpiece for all 24 major and minor keys.  Seldom heard live, and offered in 2018 for the first time in Stratford Summer Music’s history, The Well-Tempered Clavier, as famously interpreted by Ms. Hewitt, will be a rare and memorable opportunity to experience one the world’s most profound works of creativity.
